You can landslide on me anytime...

One of the most beautiful, sexy, sensuous women I've ever gone ga-ga over is Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac. OK, I don't think we have to alert the media over that.

Aside from her unbelievably gorgeous face and hair and other physical attributes...

...And the alluring (if entirely frustrating) fact that she will never be available to me, her sometimes gravelly voice and moves just do it for me.

But this is, truly, one of the most beautiful songs she ever sang with Lindsey Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac.

And with the posts and comments from a few of my blogger friends over the last day or two about changes of the heart and soul and other things, this song came to mind.

So I'm just going to leave you with this and her (but give her back!!!)...

...I also need and want to acknowledge that in an effort to avoid being nuked or at least slowly executed via verbal diarrhea warnings of impending doom, I have reluctantly switched to the new Google Blogger.
My first message from the new Blogger god, after an interminable number of sign-ins, was:

Avalanche

I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
I saw my reflection in the snow covered hill
Still the landslide brought me down
Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Well, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder, children get older
I'm getting older too
Oh, take my love, take it down
Climb a mountain and turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring it down
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well maybe the landslide will bring it down

  2. The new Google's sending me googley with multiple sign-in requests too!

Love the song. I heard she's heading out Winnipeg way so you'd better clean up! (That's for saying you're "not surprised" I cheated on the stupid race game)

  3. I think a lot of men have a thing for Stevie. I know my hubby does.

Love Fleetwood's music. Love, love, love it...

Oh, and welcome to the new blogger. You have been assimilated.

  4. I love that song as well.I wish that she wouldn't have had her face lifted-would have been good to see how she looked as she aged. Having said that, I've always found her to be an attractive woman -I don't mean in THAT way -she is just an interesting person. But NOT as interesting as Mr Buckingham -I've always thought he was lovely lovely lovely. I thought the dixie chicks did a good job of landslide as well.

  8. Thanks for the tune as one of my fave friends is a big Stevie fan and he dresses exceptionally well in Stevie drag.

Aside from his moustache, you'd really think it was her!

She has a very warm, touching and moving voice that goes straight to the heart, good text too. Beautiful ! This song gives me a feeling of longing.
Good choise to go ga-ga over if you're a man and to note as a valuable woman if you're a woman.

  10. I, too, am giving my head a shake for being sucked into the vortex that is the New Blogger.

Stevie Nicks reminds me of Grade 10 when Fleetwood Mac was at the height of their powers, but strangely enough this song was particularly poignant for me just a short time ago. I have always loved her distinctive vocals.

  11. Lindsey Buckingham and the White Witch, Stevie, were a couple/duet before they joined Fleetwood...
listen to Long Distance Winner and here the future 'sound' that was to become the MAC..

and without a doubt it was the astounding musicianship of Lindsey and Stevie's incredible come hither persona and sultry rasp that 'made' Fleetwood Mac.

I am sorry to hear that you have chosen to go the dark side..
prepare to meet Blog Vader as steals your soul with New Blogger.

With any luck this message will find its way to you...if not...
may the Force be with you young Blogwalker.

  12. Bibi:

Yeah, Stevie text-messaged me to say she'll get me a backstage pass for me and then...

I'll make sure I clean up, BB. Might even put on some smelly stuff.

Ha Ha Ha on the race game...

    Pam:

Hubby has good taste...and yes, I'm now a Blogger cyborg now, I guess...

    Lee:

WHAT?? Please, say it ain't so that she had her face lifted...

You can have Lindsey if I can have Stevie.

    Anna:

Were you jivin' to it, dancing with the vac or broom, or what?

    Awaiting:

You win me, Baby! (**Rest of visitors, in unison: "SO? BLECH!!!**)

You don't need a blonde wig tho...

    Laura:

Yep, hauntingly beautiful, like the rest of her...

    MJ:

EWWWWW!!!! (Balloon goes pop with that image).

    Hildegarde:

    Yep. Goo-goo ga-ga...

    Andrea:

It seems to me that Google got increasingly aggressive about changing, to the point I thought I HAD to do it.

It's actually not too bad and has some advantages, but it's so security-driven and sign-on intensive...

Songs like this in our past can become poignant and meaningful again at any time...

    Homeless Erroneous:

    Thanks, Dick Clark.

I have met Blog Vader and dispensed with him, but I expect to face him again in some other time, some other space continuum.

  13. I have always been a big fan of Fleetwood Mac. I drove to Denver to see them in the late 70's and they were spectacular. The song you chose is wonderful, and very meaningful, but you already knew that. :)

I hope your switch to NB is a good one. I really like the way your blog looks. I didn't have any trouble when I changed, but then again I hadn't posted much pre-NB.

  14. Oops, I'm Mike, I mean, my brother is, but I accidently posted using his identity. I am on his computer because my government issued laptop won't let me make comments on your new blog. It's a conspiracy I tell ya!

    Sorry!

  15. Hi Mike! Or is it Laurie? I think I'll call you Mike.

Fleetwood Mac kind of flew under my radar until their album Rumours, then I loved them.

    And, of course, Stevie.

Leather and Lace is another spectacular song by them, another among many.

Yes, it must be a conspiracy.

  16. I'm gonna pull you up on that, so to speak. Leather and Lace - she did that with Don Henley, I'm sure???

    ReplyDelete
  17. Lee:

You're gonna pull me up on that?

Quick Google search reveals she wrote the song, but I think you're right, both she and Henley sang it.

As I recall, Henley sang the verse about moonlight...

That a song that beautiful isn't on MySpace is a crime...

Here's the lyrics, just for the H of it...

    Is love so fragile...
    And the heart so hollow
    Shatter with words...
    Impossible to follow

You're saying Im fragile...i try not to be
    I search only...for something I can't see

I have my own life...and I am stronger than you know
    But I carry this feeling
When you walked into my house
That you won't be walking out the door

    Lovers forever...face to face
    My city, your mountains
    Stay with me stay
I need you to love me
    I need you today
    Give to me your leather...
    Take from me...my lace

    You in the moonlight
    With your sleepy eyes
Could you ever love a man like me
    And you were right
When I walked into your house
I knew Id never want to leave

    Sometimes I'm a strong man
    Sometimes cold and scared
    And sometimes I cry
But that time I saw you
I knew with you to light my nights
    Somehow I'd get by

    First time I saw you
I knew with you to light my nights
    Somehow I would get by

    Lovers forever...face to face
    My city, your mountains
    Stay with me stay
I need you to love me
    I need you today
    Give to me your leather
    Take from me...my lace

    Lovers forever...face to face
My city ,your mountains...stay with me stay
I need you to love me...i need you to stay
    Give to me your leather
    Take from me...my lace
    Take from me...my lace
    Take from me...my lace

Rumours was an album I used to play continually when I was about 18!
Its timeless though isnt it? That was the great thing about the music from that era.

  19. Will you forgive me if I told you that this is the first time I heard Stevie Nicks sing?

  20. Laura:

So now you've got me trying to guess how old you are...

Rumours was a spectacular release, there's no doubt, and it's got that enduring quality...
