Sizzling in the Heat

IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE VERY HOT IN OUR NECK OF THE WOODS THIS WEEKEND, APPROACHING OR SURPASSING 100 DEGREES FARENHEIT.

I plan on takin' in some rays and feel the sweat pour off my brow.
And mingling with the masses.
Cooling off when I need to.

And taking cover when it gets too hot.

Whatever you're doing, wherever you are, have a good one.

  2. Well here, MJ, let me cry a river for you and make you (er, it...oh, you know what I mean) wetter.

You moved there from the East. You know all it does is rain there, or so we Prairie Poor Boys think.

    Wa Wa.

You have a nice day too :-)

  3. Taking cover when it gets Hot!?Those lions are lyin' around because they are polygynandrous little devils who screw for 30-70 seconds once every 25 minutes over a four day period.
This isn't a Long Weekend is it?

What the hell is that avatar supposed to be?

  4. HE:

Yeah, so what? They're still lying in the shade. And that's where I will sometimes have to be.

I asked you before on your comment on the last post, I'll ask you again:

What do you mean, "What's that avatar supposed to be?"

  5. Rain here too...I love rain. Hope it keeps raining. And raining and raining.

  6. We are sizzling here as well. The sunrise this morning was horrifying. With all the fires burning near us and the heat, it looked like a scene from Dante's Inferno.

They are forecasting 110 here today, which, if it actually occurs, will be an all-time record.

I sure hope it cools off soon.

  7. We're having perfect this weekend. Sunny, no humidity, and about 25C on Saturday and Sunday.

My plan is to head out to the Just For Laughs Festival Saturday afternoon, walk up on the Jacques Cartier bridge to watch the fireworks Saturday night, and go to my 8-year old niece's birthday party Sunday afternoon.

Nice to see your pic again, you. Why do you want it to rain and rain and rain, or is that a reference to your state of mind?

    Hope all's well, kiddo.

    Laurie:

I think all this heat we're gettin' is originating right in Montana there, ain't it?

    110 is crazy. Take cover!

    Anna:

The Just for Laughs stuff they run on CBC all the time is one of the few things I watch on TV!

I hope you have a great time and lotsa laughs. And I hope they get you on camera and put it on one of their shows...

I'd love to pull those kindsa pranks those guys do on people.

Sounds like a great weekend. You go girl!

  10. Angel:

Will the real WW please stand up?

    What's so strange about it?

And by the way, can you (or other visitors/commenters) see my avatar? HE says I'm nothing but three dots...

  11. Wow! I totally felt the heat with that photo of the BBQ -- at least I think it's a BBQ. Mmmm, I could go for a hamburger and roasted corn right about now.... It's hot here, too, in sunny California. But at least it's not humid like it was in the midwest, where I just came back from. I love the photos you picked for this post. And I hope you have a fantastic weekend!!
    :)

  12. Ha! You call that hot???!!!!! ;). Yes, I'm just being wicked. Was it only last summer that there was some kind of heatwave over there and people were dying? -I guess it must be whatever people are used to. I guess that's what would happen if all of a sudden we had to deal with unexpected cold weather over here and all the old folk would be dropping like flies.

  13. All I see is three dots also. I clicked on it and it brought me to your profile. When I viewed it full size I notice that it's a message from flickr: "This photo is currently unavailable."

Where's your handsome face?! I miss it!

And now I'm off to the bridge to watch Germany compete in the fireworks competition. Is it horrible of me to be really loving doing stuff all by myself today?

  14. Clare:

Yep, that's a BBQ I pulled off the Web. Where in the midwest did you go, your post Blog doesn't say (yet).

    Lee:

I don't remember a heatwave here, maybe midwestern or southern states...

    You don't KNOW cold, girl...

    Anna:

When I deleted my Flickr site, I deleted the link between it and my blog pic.

I've started a new Flickr site that will have pix only of people who are OK with being on it.

    So I'm BAAAAAACCCCCKKKKK!

What's you're doing isn't horrible at all. It's called healing and taking action.

    :-)

  15. It's been hot and humid with no sign of rain this weekend here too.

Was planning to closet myself in my room with my new book but josh is sick. DOn't you just hate it when they're sick?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lucky lucky lucky WW. Don't ever move to Melbourne, I'm sure even a Canadian would find our current weather too cold! Although it hasn't actually snowed in the city yet.

Re your previous post - I once had a relative request me to remove a family-based post I did, citing as a reason that I would upset my grandmother. What the heck is my grandmother doing reading my blog anyway?! Specially when I don't even talk to her. Oh well, I removed it. But yes, I know what you mean... you feel like your blog is your own little kingdom where you excercise your freedom of expression, and then it's a nasty shock to find that the people you write about in nothing but a complimentary way object to it. I'll miss those posts of yours, it was always a pleasure to read them.

  17. Menchie:

It IS tough when they're sick, all they want is MOMMIE, MOMMIE, MOMMIE! But that's why you're a Mom, right?

(Hubby slinks away into another room to read HIS book).

Very warm and humid here but it was mostly grey and there was a bit of a breeze.

Go to the bathroom. It's always the best place to read a book, if only for a few minutes...

    Stace:

You Aussies...if I had the money, I'd pay for you, Aidan, Keshi, Lee and Dinahmow to visit here in February. Then you'd get it!

Thanks on your comment on the previous post. A lesson learned, for sure...

    :-)

  18. ... and it looks as if it's more of the same today. Hot but that's okay. By December, we'll be remembering these days fondly and wondering why we wanted them to be cooler.

  19. Still raining.

    Still wet.

  20. Kate:

Welcome to another Canadian Flatlander! And quite a gardener, I see from a quick look at your blog.

You're exactly right, of course. We do have to take these days with a smile even as we wipe the sweat off our brow.

As of this writing, there are only 156 Days, 13 Hours, 1 Minute, and 26 Seconds of shopping days until Christmas!

    MJ:

    Ha Ha Ha Ha!

I remind you that the last time I saw you, you were under a large black umbrella hiding from the pounding rain in Van.

I hope you don't mind that I laugh.

Because I know you'll be laughing in February when I'm freezing my gonads in -30 WITHOUT the windchill and you're admiring your flowers while sipping on your morning coffee from your deck.

  21. Ha Ha Ha Ha!

I remind you that the last time I saw you, you were NOT under a large black umbrella hiding from the pounding rain in Van. Since you'd neglected my advice to bring an umbrella.

I hope you don't mind that I laugh.

  22. MJ:

And I remind you that...oh, wait a minute, I have the brain of a gnat and can't remember more than one thing at a time...

Umbrellas are for sissies or for people who choose to live in places where it rains every day.

My tiny brain recalls that you did not offer me shelter with you under your umbrella.

And as I recall, you WERE laughing as I headed out into that wet night back to downtown Vancouver.

So forget Ha Ha Ha. It was Wa Wa Wa.

    Hi WW,
I walked from a nice cold Melbournian 11 degree celcius street into a bookshop and someone said that outside was as cold as Canada.
Reading your blog made me smile as it always seems to be a lot hotter or a lot colder than 11 degrees.
"There was a point when I started writing, but I have seemed to misplace it"
    Cheers,
    Andrew

  24. WW: As usual I look at the post and ponder...wtf? But I like the flames!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Andrew:

A-HA! I knew I'd forget one of my Aussie friends!

So someone in a bookstore in Melbourne said 11C was "as cold as Canada?"

Oh, you mates...you have it so easy there...

You're right though, it always does seem to be either a lot colder or a lot hotter than 11C.

I think it got up to 34C today and it's supposed to be warmer tomorrow, I believe.

    Don't shiver too much!

    Tidalgrrrl:

WTF are you pondering WTF for?

Glad you like the flame, tho.

  26. Rain, rain and more rain. We even have rivers on flood watch. If it wasn't for the humidity I'd swear it wasn't July here.

  27. Pam:

I'm sure the farmers (and others) are going to be begging for some rain soon.

I think it's supposed to cool off a bit later this week.

I struggle a bit in this heat, but I no longer complain about it. In the winter, I long for this.
